nendo holds three consecutive exhibitions in Omotesando: "nendo 3/3"

Sep 1, 2015

From September 11th to November 22nd, design studio "nendo" will host "nendo 3/3," a project featuring three consecutive exhibitions, each held for three weeks, at the art gallery "EYE OF GYRE" inside GYRE in Omotesando, Tokyo.
The project features three consecutive exhibitions themed on designs born from the relationship between objects and their surroundings. Part 1 runs from September 11th to October 4th, Part 2 from October 6th to 28th, and Part 3 from October 30th to November 22nd. By viewing the three exhibitions consecutively, visitors will be able to grasp a single message.
Part 1, "Hito Mono Guma," is a traveling exhibition of "Colorful Shadows," which was held at the Cool Japan Design Gallery at Expo Milano 2015. Sixteen designs inspired by Japanese artisanal techniques are displayed in a solid black color scheme to highlight the subtle differences in expression that can only be achieved by artisans. The venue will be designed with a long, 250mm-wide display stand guiding visitors and connecting the rooms.

The second part, "Rooms, Things, Gap," will debut "edge tables," a collection of small tables derived from the "edges" of spaces. Rather than arranging individually conceived furniture in the space, the exhibition will feature a number of works that were born from considering how to make the most of the gallery's complex space.

The third part, "Things, Things, Gap," will exhibit 12 works designed with a focus on the relationships between "things," including "nest shelf," which was unveiled at the 2015 London Design Festival and hides other "things" in the "gap" between "things," as well as "scissors" and "press lamp," which give function to the "gap" between "things."
