The 2nd Goshu Festa for Women in Ginza, a women's tasting event featuring local sake made with rice and water from the breweries, will be held on September 26th at the Jiji Press Hall in Ginza, Tokyo.
The first event, held in May of this year, was a huge success, with all 1,000 tickets sold out within three weeks of ticket sales. This second event will feature a new initiative: a popularity vote to determine the "Goshu Grand Prize," as well as English language support for foreign visitors.
The event will bring together 30 carefully selected breweries from across Japan. The event will feature a tasting and sale of "Akiagari/Hiyaoroshi," a sake with a mature aroma and rich flavor that is rarely available in Tokyo. There will also be plans to pair sake with sweets and cheese dishes, which are not commonly paired with sake.
Other events will include performances by violinist Ryuma, who performs worldwide in a haori and hakama, and calligrapher Kamoyama Tomoe, who writes calligraphy inspired by drunken inspiration, as well as an English manzai comedy act by the comedy duo Nihonshu, who also appeared in the first festival, who will promote sake through manzai. There will also be seminars on sake, beauty, health, and sake and its history.
The festival is divided into three parts: Part 1 is for women only, Part 2 is for women and male-female pairs, and Part 3, which has English support, is for women and foreigners. Each session has a capacity of 350 people.
