Sep 9, 2015

An order event will be held on the 6th floor of Sanyo Ginza Tower from September 19th to 23rd, where customers can customize the lining and removable liner of Sanyo Shokai's "100-Year Coat" with the "Sanyo Lattice" pattern, developed based on the "Okina Lattice" pattern used in various Kabuki costumes.

"Okina Lattice" is used in various Kabuki plays, including the role of Musashibo Benkei in the popular play "Kanjincho." The "Okina" in the name refers to an old man, and the design, with many thin lattices interwoven between the thick lattices, is said to have originated from the likeness of an old man with many grandchildren.

This time, the focus will be on "Okina Lattice," as the concept of the "100-Year Coat," which was created with the theme of "long-lasting love across generations," matches the meaning of "Okina Lattice," which is "an old man and many grandchildren." The "Sanyo Lattice" was created by taking the traditional "Okina Lattice" and giving it a modern look with an original color scheme. The base is the sand color of the earthen walls of Daitokuji Temple, while the thicker parts of the lattice are the ink color of smoked roof tiles. Furthermore, the thinner lattice accents are in Sanyo Shokai's colors of dark blue and persimmon.
