NikeLab will release a new shoe, "NIKELAB CORTEZ '72" (15,120 yen including tax), on September 24th, which is a reproduction of the original Nike Cortez model.
The Nike Cortez, released in 1972, was created by Bill Bowerman, a Nike craftsman since its founding and the man who laid the foundation for Nike's design philosophy.
The midsole cushioning system, which sandwiches a harder sponge rubber between two soft sponge rubber layers, improves cushioning. Blue rubber was used to highlight the difference in material density.
The newly released "NIKELAB CORTEZ '72" recreates the original model down to the smallest details, including the zigzag edges, heel pull tab, rubber toe cap, exposed foam tongue, and minimalist leather upper.
Also currently on sale is the "NikeLab CLASSIC CORTEZ," a modern take on the "Nike Cortez." Crafted with nylon and corduroy uppers and premium oiled suede, the shoe features a three-dimensional embroidered logo.
