Y. & SONS, a men's kimono tailor in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, will be holding an event on September 12th themed around "Choyo no Sekku (Adult Festival)."

Of the five seasonal festivals celebrating the overlapping of odd positive numbers, September 9th, which features the largest positive number, is known as "Choyo no Sekku." The event will feature food and drinks, including chrysanthemum sake, in keeping with the ancient custom of drinking sake with chrysanthemums floating in it to pray for future prosperity and longevity. Additionally, craftsmen from Takahashi Keizo Shoten in Asakusa will be on hand to demonstrate and sell setta sandals with attached thongs. Customers can choose their preferred base and thongs and have the craftsman attach the thongs on the spot. The thongs of setta sandals and geta sandals brought with them will also be adjusted free of charge.

Y & Sons' first autumn/winter collection is based around subdued colour combinations such as black, navy and off-white, and features a wide range of items, from cotton kimonos with bold colours and patterns that are suitable for casual party scenes, to Oshima Tsumugi silk that gives a gentle and chic impression.
