Introducing the kimono-themed "Moon Viewing Dress"! "Adult Cultural Festival" held at Shinjuku Isetan

Sep 7, 2015

From September 23rd to 28th, Isetan Shinjuku will be hosting "Adult Cultural Festival," an event aimed at "adult women" who lead sophisticated lifestyles, at Center Park/The Stage #4 on the fourth floor of the main building.

Under the theme of "Excitement and Thrills with the Charms of Japan," the store will be showcasing authentic, authentic items backed by history and tradition in each zone, like a cultural festival.

In the zone showcasing the excellence of Japanese craftsmanship, leather goods retailer Takuya Made by Hand (T・MBH) will be present. They will offer exquisite leather goods crafted with meticulous attention to detail, even down to the finest stitching. Created by "leather goods master" Takuya Okamoto, the brand primarily carries men's lines, but this time they will be introducing limited-edition women's items made with pink lizard leather. Okamoto himself will be taking orders during the event.

In addition, Kayme, which opened its first London store in July this year and sells all-Japan-made jersey dresses, will be selling a kimono-inspired dress (44,800 yen) with an "Autumn Moon Viewing" theme.

Bag brand SENSO will be introducing three types of bags to suit the lifestyle of working women. The lineup includes a briefcase, round canvas bag, and backpack, each available to order in five to ten colors.

SANYO will be introducing a short coat (140,000 yen) and a long coat (180,000 yen) made with high-quality Kyoto duck down, while SANYO ESSENTIALS, an online-only line by Sanyo Shokai, will offer a selection of clean, basic items such as blouses and knitwear. At BLASON, couturier Konosuke Hattori will be taking orders for coats and jackets, which will be hand-sewn by Japan's finest artisans. Miyagawa Tokusaburo Shoten, which sells kimonos and Japanese accessories, will offer items that fuse Japanese and Western styles, such as modern takes on kimono haori coats. Accessory brand naeclose will sell jewelry that combines Kyoto and international materials. The event will also feature Isetan Mitsukoshi's new project, Sohonke. This project combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary products, unearthing "things that will remain relevant over the years, or that contain the essence we want to pass on," and carrying on the values of the "original family" while respecting tradition. The project also features a collaboration between botanical brand SOLSO and traditional crafts. Botanical designs will be presented in Edo glass and Edo Kumiko containers, and in collaboration with Takahashi Kobo, which produces Edo woodblock prints, short hanging scrolls that can be easily incorporated into modern lifestyles will be sold.
