■THE TOKYO ART BOOKFAIR" brings together over 300 leading artists and publishers from around the world in the art book industry.
The TOKYO ART BOOKFAIR, Asia's largest art book fair, is now in its 7th year and will be held from September 19th to 21st at the Gaien Campus of Kyoto University of Art and Design and Tohoku University of Art and Design. Why not take a peek at the current state of the evolving art book industry?
■Enjoy champagne and a movie in a glamorous setting while feeling the autumn breeze. Moët's outdoor event is currently being held at Tokyo Midtown
"Mid Park Champagne Lounge by MOET & CHANDON" is open in Roppongi Midtown Garden for a limited time until October 4th. Also, on Friday nights during this period, "MOET GARDEN CINEMA" is being held in the vast lawn plaza beyond the lounge, where movies are screened on a giant outdoor screen.
■A collaboration between Mika Ninagawa and Sumida Aquarium is being released. A fantastical space of jellyfish and kaleidoscopes dyed in Ninagawa's colors
The "Ninagawa Mika x Sumida Aquarium Jellyfish Kaleidoscope Tunnel," produced by Mika Ninagawa, is on view at Sumida Aquarium in Tokyo Skytree Town until December 27th. A kaleidoscope space with approximately 5,000 mirrors covering the walls and ceiling, jellyfish dyed in Mika Ninagawa's colors, and aromatic fragrances wafting through the air stimulate all five senses.
■Photographer Risaku Suzuki holds his first large-scale solo exhibition in approximately eight years. Showing "seeing" through reliving the gaze
Photographer Risaku Suzuki's solo exhibition, "Suzuki Risaku Photo Exhibition: Stream of Consciousness," is currently being held at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. "Stream of Consciousness" is based on Suzuki's own experience of being naturally drawn into the experience through the act of looking. The exhibition runs until September 23rd, so be sure to get there early.
■An event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the publication of Moomin will be held at Matsuya Ginza. All 73 "Arabia Moomin Mugs" will be on display for the first time in Japan
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the publication of "Moomin," "MOOMIN! Moomin STORY" is being held in the Event Square on the 8th floor of Matsuya Ginza until September 23rd. The venue will feature all 73 "Moomin Mugs" made by Finland's Arabia Factory, produced from 1990 to the present day!
■TeamLab creates a "universe of light"... New work "Crystal Universe" unveiled in Ginza
TeamLab's new work "Crystal Universe" was unveiled at the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza. Visitors are invited to walk through the work, feel the light on their skin, and experience an unreal experience of becoming one with the universe. The exhibition runs until September 27th.
■The "Jan Fabre Exhibition" is currently being held at Espace Louis Vuitton. A shining scarab skeleton and other works are on display in Japan for the first time.
Belgian artist Jan Fabre's exhibition "Tribute to Hieronymus Bosch in Congo (2011-2013)" is currently running at Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo. A highlight is a mosaic piece made from scarab elytra, an insect that is being shown in Japan for the first time. This exhibition also runs until September 23rd, so be sure to get yours now.
■Dinh Q. Le's first solo exhibition in Japan, dynamically portraying the light and shadow of Vietnam, is being held.
Dinh Q. Le, a Vietnamese artist who deals with themes of war and genocide, has his first solo exhibition in Japan, "Dinh Q. Le: Memory for Tomorrow," running until October 12th at the Mori Art Museum. At this turning point, marking 70 years since the end of the war in Japan and 40 years since the end of the Vietnam War, why not reconsider history?
