Omotesando Hills will host "OMOTESANDO HILLS CHRISTMAS 2015," a Christmas illumination event produced by creators active both in Japan and abroad, from November 5th to December 25th.
This year's theme is "Christmas Party," and the illuminations will be themed "A Place Where People Gather: A Garden Party Under the Tree" in the main building's atrium staircase. In the center will be an 8-meter-tall Christmas tree adorned with a mistletoe chandelier by decorator FABIO KEIJI MATSUKI. The tree will be decorated with approximately 700 ornaments and illuminated with approximately 12,000 LED bulbs in red, green, and gold.
Additionally, 12 smaller trees will be placed on both sides of the staircase. Two of the trees will be equipped with tables, and an installation by creators Yoshitaka Kajitani and Ayako Suwa will be installed, evoking a garden party held in a bustling square in a European town. In addition, the sides of the slope surrounding the atrium will be decorated with approximately 6,000 LED bulbs and garlands, and the ceiling will be decorated with approximately 10,000 LED bulbs. Every hour, the space will be transformed into two different scenes: a "daytime" scene that evokes a bustling cityscape, and a "nighttime" scene that evokes a mystical Christmas atmosphere.
