If you're looking for a creative and romantic date, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo is the place to be. Enjoy two distinct exhibitions: "Michel Gondry's World Tour," Michel's first solo exhibition in Japan, and "In Search of a New Genealogy (Leaps/Traces/Body)." Michel is a fantastical film director who brilliantly distorts reality. His films "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "The Art of Love" are irresistible to anyone who knows the pain of love, and he has many male fans. And speaking of Michel, his music videos are a must-see. A true creator, his videos are works of art that go beyond promotional material. In Around the World in 19 Videos, you can enjoy 19 of Michel's most iconic works projected onto a maze-like white wall. Follow the STOP and GO commands displayed at the bottom of the screen and follow the screen as you experience Michel's imaginative music videos, immersing your whole body. In the Home Movie Factory, various sets, including a cafe, garage, city center, and living room, are on display, stimulating your imagination just by browsing. Each set inspires you to imagine what characters and scenes you might imagine, and even exchange ideas about camera positions and music, pretending to be a director. Perhaps you'll discover new sides to each other through your imagination and ideas. Finally, in the "In Search of a New Genealogy" exhibition, you'll experience the power, potential, and mystery of the human body through Nomura Mansai's challenge to the traditional forms of Kyogen and his practice using cutting-edge technology to imitate and trace physical movements in real time. Dumb Type's sound installation, "Trace/React," allows you to experience a physical performance (i.e., something that cannot be expressed in words or visually) through the sounds coming from five 360-degree rotating, ultra-directional speakers. The installation captures the sounds of the performers' bodies, their breathing, the rustling of their clothes, and their footsteps. Hold hands, close your eyes, and walk through the waves of sound. As you follow your partner's hand and move forward between the speakers, you may feel the walls and cracks created by the sound waves, the presence of the absent performer, and his presence, movements, and body temperature all at the same time, more intimately than usual. Inspired by these two exhibits, this date allows you to peer into each other's imaginations and become more sensitive to the form and function of the body itself. This stimulating experience is sure to bring you closer together.
