At Watches & Wonders 2022, Swiss watch and jewelry maison Piaget unveiled new versions of its Altiplano, a symbol of elegance and a thin watch, and its iconic Limelight Gala, known for its sensual lines and asymmetrical lugs.
Altiplano Ultimate Concept
The new Altiplano Ultimate Concept (AUC) is a unique tribute to the moment when a timepiece symbolizing Piaget's exceptional technical and design began to beat.
In 1957, Piaget unveiled the 9P, the world's thinnest manual-wound caliber at the time, measuring just 2 mm thick. Later, Piaget took the idea of creating a 2 mm thick watch and created the AUC, one of the thinnest mechanical watches ever. In November of the same year, the AUC won the prestigious "Aiguille d'Or" (Golden Hand Award) at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Gen'egrave;ve (GPHG - Geneva Watch Grand Prix), and it remains one of the world's thinnest watches.
This new, unique AUC is inscribed with mementos of an incredible journey, celebrating the history of watchmaking. The historic logo appears at the top of the dial, and the dot index marks 7:47, the time when the AUC first struck, outlined in white. Also engraved are the date of AUC's birth, February 7, 2017, and the Manufacture's GPS coordinates. The background of the dial features a star pattern in Super-LumiNova, recreating the sky above La Côte-aux-Fées at the time of AUC's birth.
Representing the first "beat" of La Côte-aux-Fées and the Altiplano, this exceptional timepiece unites design and technology, embodying the Maison's constant challenge to push the boundaries of creativity and refinement.

The watch is adorned with Piaget's signature Palace decoration, evoking the delicate yet refined texture of an haute couture dress.
