"Brazil Week" begins today at Shinjuku Isetan. Authentic cuisine and fashion gather together! Also featuring an exhibition on Brazilian hero Ayrton Senna

Jun 1, 2016

Isetan Shinjuku will be hosting a Brazil-focused event, "Brazil Week - Feira Colorida," on every floor of the main building from June 1st to 7th. During the event, a "feira" modeled after a Brazilian open-air market will be set up on The Stage on the first floor of the main building, allowing visitors to experience the seasonal flavors of Brazil's food, clothing, and shelter just like in the real world. The food collection on the first basement floor of the main building will feature "brigadeiro" (6 pieces/¥1,201 including tax), a favorite among Brazilians, recreated using a recipe by pastry chef Carolina Iwai. Unique Brazilian wines will also be available. A wide variety of wines, including demi-sec (white sparkling wine), brut (white sparkling wine), and brut rosé (rosé sparkling wine), will also be available (¥3,888 each including tax). Also featured will be a variety of Brazilian soul foods, including Frutta Frutta Acai Cafe's Amazon Fruit Drink (701 yen, tax included), made with fruit puree imported directly from the Amazon; Restaurante Grill Iguazu's "Pão de Queijo" (164 yen, tax included); churrasco; and feijoada. A dress (43,000 yen) and a blouse (23,000 yen) from Rio de Janeiro brand Andrea Marques will also be available for purchase at Center Park/The Stage #2 on the second floor of the main building. From June 1st to 6th, the "Ayrton Senna Exhibition" will be held in the store's seventh floor event space, focusing on Brazil's legendary racing driver, Ayrton Senna. Visitors can learn about Senna's lifestyle, his approach to driving, his passion for F1, and his message to the next generation of children. More than 50 related apparel and books will also be available for purchase at the venue. In addition, there will also be a talk show by former F1 driver Satoru Nakajima (June 4th from 1pm and 3pm, 30 minutes each).
