On June 11th, ISSEY MIYAKE INC. will open the first standalone HOMME PLISSE ISSEY MIYAKE store, the HOMME PLISSE ISSEY MIYAKE Daikanyama Store, in Daikanyama, Tokyo. The store is located at 19-8 Sarugakucho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, T2 Building A. The store, spanning two floors (the first and second floors) and covering approximately 95 square meters, features the brand's full line, from basic items and seasonal items featuring monthly colors and patterns, to a pre-sale black and navy jumpsuit (priced at 40,000 yen; scheduled for release in September at other stores). The brand offers new everyday wear for modern men. Currently, ISSEY MIYAKE has locations including REALITY LAB. ISSEY MIYAKE in Aoyama, ISSEY MIYAKE MARUNOUCHI, ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE / GINZA, ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE / SEMBA, and ISSEY MIYAKE / KOBE, but this latest store is the brand's first standalone street-level store and its largest. Regarding its first two-floor expansion, the company stated, "We want to take advantage of the size and floor layout to offer a space where customers can experience the brand's worldview more than ever before, and to appeal to people interested in culture, fashion, and art who gather in Daikanyama." The first floor is a trapezoidal concrete box-like space with thin, wide beams running diagonally, dividing the space above eye level and neatly hanging the clothes at eye level, creating the illusion of the clothes "floating." At the time of opening, pre-sale items such as jumpsuits and plain basics will be available, as well as T-shirts from the "MIYAKE ISSEY Exhibition: The Work of Miyake Issey" and the "Issey Miyake" book (published by TASCHEN). In stark contrast to the first floor, the second floor features an impressive, regular grid design, where items using monthly colors and patterns will be sold. Opening hours are from 11:00 to 20:00. A Sendai Parco store is also scheduled to open on July 1st.
