"Shiriagari Kotobuki's Contemporary Art: Rotating, Rotating," his first solo exhibition at a museum, will be held at the Nerima Art Museum in Nakamurabashi, Tokyo, from July 3rd to September 4th. Shiriagari Kotobuki is a manga artist known for his unique critical comedy manga, such as "Yajikita in DEEP" and "Earth Defense Family," currently serialized in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper. His work has received acclaim, including the Bungeishunju Manga Award and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and his recent manga collection, "Manga from That Day," which focuses on Japan after the Great East Japan Earthquake, has garnered significant attention. He has also been a long-time mentor to students at Nihon University College of Art and Kobe Design University. This exhibition will explore the diverse scope of his previous work while showcasing new works, primarily rotating installations. Everything from paintings and dioramas to everyday objects and videos will rotate within the exhibition space. What is rotation? What is art? This is an exhibition where you can experience a new "World of Shiriagari Kotobuki," which is a little different from the "World of Shiriagari Kotobuki" by manga artist Shiriagari Kotobuki.
During the exhibition, there will be a talk show between Shiriagari Kotobuki and designer Sobue Shin as guests, as well as viewing programs and workshops. Event schedules and details can be found on the Nerima Art Museum's official website.
