Artist Pierre Huyghe's exhibition "Pierre Huyghe - Untilled Host" will be held at Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo in Omotesando, Tokyo from June 25th to January 9th, 2017.

The exhibition is part of the "Hors-les-murs" (Beyond the Walls) project, curated by the Fondation Louis Vuitton, which introduces previously unseen works from the Fondation's collection at Espace Louis Vuitton locations in Munich, Venice, Beijing, and Tokyo. The exhibition at Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo features two video works by Pierre Huyghe from the Fondation's collection: "The Host and the Cloud" and "A Way in Untilled."

"The Host and the Cloud" was filmed over the course of a year in a building in Paris that formerly housed the National Museum of Folk Art. This experimental work was filmed based on actual events in a closed museum in the corner of an amusement park, and partially records events over three days: Halloween, Valentine's Day, and May Day. The film features actors dressed as museum staff. As they role-play, they encounter and change through the exhibition collections, various situations, and fragmented stories. The work depicts these fictional characters "traversing the absent subject."

Meanwhile, "A Way in Untilled" was filmed in Karlsaue Park, the site of Documenta (2013), in the summer of 2012. Filmed at dusk, the work shows organic matter decaying around a sculpture titled "Untilled (Liegender Frauenakt)" (Untilled Field (Reclining Nude)), a reclining female figure with a head made of a swarm of bees.
