
The contemporary art exhibition "INCIDENTS 2015" will be held in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, from January 24 to February 21. The exhibition, held at the Hachinohe Sake Brewery, showcases works by artists active both in Japan and abroad. Participants include sculptor Ryuta Iida, recipient of the Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art and other awards; illustrator Kiyoshi Kuroda, who created wall graphics for the Shinjuku Southern Beat Project; and dancer and filmmaker Nao Yoshigai, whose work has been exhibited at festivals such as the Nasu International Short Film Festival. Local artists from Hachinohe, including sculptor Futako Ito and painter Takumi Sanuki, are also exhibiting their works, making for a diverse and varied exhibition. To commemorate the exhibition's opening, a talk event featuring artists will be held on January 25, along with a tour of the brewery and other events. On February 21, dancer Ayano Shimazaki, one of the participating artists, will perform a contemporary dance piece. Furthermore, starting from January 31st, four workshops for toddlers and elementary school students will be held every Saturday. A variety of unique courses in different genres and with different instructors are planned, including "Finding patterns in a sake brewery: frottage" and "Dressing artworks in clothes: thinking about sculptures together." During the exhibition, various art events will also be held in Hachinohe. From January 24th to February 22nd, Hachinohe Portal Museum HACCHI will host a photo exhibition by Tatsuki Masaru titled "Fishmen." On January 25th, Nango Cultural Hall will host Maki Morishita's dance performance "Is This Dance?", and on February 1st, Nango Jazz Hall will host a screening of the film "You and Me, Waltz."
