NANZUKA, a gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo, will be holding a solo exhibition by Frank Nitsche, "European Baggage," from January 17 to February 21. Frank Nitsche is one of the leading figures of the Dresden School of contemporary German abstract art. His motifs include the myriad images pervasive in modern society through mass media and mass-consumed products. These entities are transformed through repeated destruction and creation, reconstructed into abstract images. Nitsche's works, composed of multi-layered, multi-dimensional geometric lines and surfaces, present dynamic lines and a tranquil surface. This metaphor, with its complexity and clarity, evokes the difference between thought and perception, suggesting their inextricable nature. His other works explore dualistic theories such as harmony and disharmony, stillness and movement, and contrast and asymmetry, offering a glimpse of inner unity amidst their contradictions.
To coincide with the solo exhibition, Frank Nietzsche will be visiting Japan on the 17th. An opening reception will be held from 6pm.
