ASICS has revived its popular ASICS Tiger sneaker brand from the 1980s and 1990s, releasing 29 new items on January 24th. In addition to the reissued models, the company is expanding its product lineup with a new series incorporating casual designs and other touches. Apparel and accessories will also be available starting this fall. The lineup is available through sports shops, select shops, e-commerce sites, and directly managed stores in Japan and overseas. A pop-up store is also open at Shibuya Parco until March 5th. Global sales are expected to exceed 10 billion yen in the first year. While retaining the original form, the shoes feature unique materials and colors for a striking look, incorporating elements of American street fashion. A key feature is the logo, which uses the corporate mark from when ASICS was founded. Shoes range in price from 10,000 to 18,000 yen. The company's flagship product, the GEL LYTE III, is based on a running shoe released in 1990. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of the Gel Lyte III, the company plans to release new products each month in collaboration with sneaker specialty stores both in Japan and overseas. The first wave of products will be available at Mita Sneakers from January 24th. Meanwhile, the Gel Lyte V is based on a running shoe released in 1993 and will be available in a wide variety of styles, including models made from nylon and suede. ASICS Tiger was a popular brand among top athletes and enthusiasts in various sports both in Japan and overseas from the 1980s to the 1990s. The company offers ASICS, which specializes in competitive performance, and Onitsuka Tiger, which incorporates a luxurious and European style. Positioning the new ASICS Tiger as a third brand, the company aims to establish a new position in the domestic and international sports lifestyle markets.
