The Isetan Shinjuku Main Building's 4th floor East Park will host the "Japan Artisan x Made to Order" event from January 7th to January 13th, where attendees can enjoy the craftsmanship process through dialogue with artisans. The event will focus on three brands and showcase "Japanese craftsmanship" through artisan demonstrations and other activities. TADFUR is a fur repair and remodeling specialty store, specializing in the restoration of fur items tucked away in closets across Japan. The company collaborates with planners who have specialized in fur restoration, experienced staff from major fur manufacturers, young staff who can embody contemporary lifestyles and designs, and fur sewing and special processing professionals to remake a classic long fur coat into stylish fur jackets, rings, pouches, and other small accessories. Fur-specific sewing machines will also be brought to the event to showcase the artisan's skills. A Tadfur representative commented, "What's important is the customer's lifestyle. We want to use this event to communicate that there are good options available without having to buy new things."
Honoyo is a brand launched in 2012 by hat designer Honoyo Imai. At the venue, Imai will personally provide sales consulting, offering everything from ready-made to semi-custom-made items. In 2012, Imai won the international hat competition, "The Hat Designer of the Year 2012," with her "OMIKUJI" piece made from washi paper. Since then, she has presented her collections every season at the Premiere Classe exhibition in Paris. "Rather than being limited to the category of hats, I continue to create new head accessories based on the theme of 'fashionable heads and individuality.'"
Takuya Made by Hand (T.MBH), created by Takuya Okamoto, currently designs and manufactures leather goods in Kuramae, Tokyo. At the venue, customers can choose their favorite type of leather and color to create smartphone cases, business card cases, bags, and pen cases, and can consult on custom patterns. Okamoto commented, "I want to create leather products that are sexy. I consider the design of not only the shape of the body, but also the fine details. I insist on doing everything by hand because I consider the stitching and edge finishing to be part of the design."
