PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE has released a new visual series, "FLOWERS." The series features various flowers, including camellias, plum blossoms, and tulips, transformed into clothing. These "flowers born from clothing" are featured in advertisements at Narita Airport, as well as in store displays and on shoppers. Graphic designer Taku Sato commented, "There's no logic to the beauty of flowers. The joy of PLEATS PLEASE begins with feeling, rather than reason." A video is also available on the brand's official website. The video will be broadcast for one month from January 28, 2014, inside Narita Airport's Terminal 2, where the brand's new shop opened on January 28. This visual series, which has been produced by the brand and the Taku Sato Design Office since 2005, aims to transcend the concept of a fashion brand and create visuals unique to the brand. Last year, a series celebrating the brand's 20th anniversary won the Gold Award in the Design Category at the New York ADC, as well as the ADC and JAGDA Awards in Japan. His "Sushi" series, released in 2008, also won the Silver Award in the Poster Category at the New York ADC and the JAGDA Award.
