Fashion designer Loris Azzaro was born on February 9, 1933, in Tunisia. He passed away on November 20, 2003.
He entered the fashion world after designing costume jewelry for his wife. In 1967, he founded "Azzaro" on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. His dresses, made from metallic knit by top artisans, as well as dresses featuring lavish beading and bold cutouts, were beloved by French socialites and leading celebrities of the era, including Sophia Loren.
In 1974, he launched the house's first perfume, "Azzaro Couture," and went on to release numerous hits, including "Azzaro pour Homme." After Azzaro's death in November 2003, the brand resumed the collection with Vanessa Siward in 2004-05 AW. Mathilde Castello Branco was appointed for the 2012-13 AW pre-collection, and Arno Meillad and Alvaro Castejon were appointed as the new creative directors for women's wear from the 2014 SS season.
