Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci's 2014-15 Autumn/Winter men's collection was held at the former French National Railways warehouse, the Halle Freycinet. A circular basketball court was set up within the venue, surrounded by a wire fence, and models walked inside.
Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci incorporated the sporty world of basketball into his clothing in an edgy way, creating a dark mood.
Using basketball court and basketball motifs, sometimes realistic and sometimes abstract, the collection featured basketball tank tops and sporty sweatpants crafted from luxurious materials such as leather and fur. The loose-fitting pants featured a wide belt that ran from the front to the back, and similar belts draped over the sleeves and back of the sweatshirt, creating a striking accent.
Items unique to a couture house, such as shirts reminiscent of basketball nets, sculptural blousons and bombers with highly reflective zippers, and shirts patchworked with basketball court motifs, were eye-catching. The show depicted a powerful worldview that only Givenchy under Tisci could achieve today.
