At "THE BLACK SENSE FESTIVAL 2014," an event held by men's magazine SENSE at the National Yoyogi Gymnasium on February 23rd, adidas Originals unveiled a collaborative T-shirt inspired by the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
For this T-shirt, called the "adidas Originals Enjin Collection," adidas has collaborated with 10 fashion brands. Participating brands include ANREALAGE, A.FOUR LABS, BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS, BRIGHT THINGS, FACETASM, FACTOTUM, LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD, PORTER, SASQUATCHfabrix., and Y-3. The collection features a black body with a circular design on the back, resembling the shape of a huddle. The color of the lines varies by brand.
A fashion show was held at the venue, and Japan national soccer team player Makino Tomoaki and TV personality Dan Mitsu graced the runway. Makino wore a Y-3 T-shirt that he personally selected, paired with camouflage pants for an overall monochrome look. Dan Mitsu paired the Japan national team uniform with pink stripes with white shorts, showing off her legs. "This was my first time participating in a men's fashion magazine event and wearing a soccer uniform," she said. "Sporty uniforms will be more readily available if women's sizes are expanded. Men in uniforms have a sense of dignity and a sharp look." Makino also said it was refreshing to be a model in his first fashion show. "In Europe, it's standard for families to wear uniforms on the weekend and go to watch soccer. Soccer culture hasn't really taken root in Japan yet, but why not try coordinating a collaboration T-shirt stylishly and heading out on the town?" Pre-orders for the T-shirts will be accepted at the venue, and they will be sold exclusively at The Stage on the first floor of the Shinjuku Isetan Main Building from May 21st to 27th. Each item is priced at 8,532 yen.
