Shonan T-SITE is more than just books. A full range of shops perfect for women

Dec 11, 2014

Shonan T-SITE, opening on December 12th, has expanded its second building, themed around "slow food and slow life," with a selection of shops sure to delight women. The first-floor lifestyle goods store, "Books and Items," is a concept shop planned by Yukiko Ishimura, owner of the popular Nara cafe "Kurumi no Ki." Its concept showcases items created by people who specialize in authentic products and with genuine craftsmanship. The store's name, handwritten by mina perhonen designer Akira Minagawa, conveys the meaning behind showcasing "items" related to the books that interest Tsutaya Bookstore visitors and conveys the meaning of "authenticity." From December 12th to January 12th, Akira Minagawa of mina perhonen, Shigesato Itoi of Hobonichi Itoi Shimbun, Kenmei Nagaoka of d design travel, and three others will be selecting "books that have influenced them" and related items. Minä Perhonen will also offer stuffed toys and brooches made from past textiles. The store's flooring will feature tiles made from the brand's original textile, and products will be displayed on wooden shelves built by Ishinomaki Workshop.

Also on the first floor, "Sennen Kojiya" will be a specialty store for rice, koji, and fermentation, showcasing the rich food and culture of Uonuma, Niigata. The store, established by the brewery of "Hakkaisan" sake, offers the entire Hakkaisan lineup, as well as alcoholic beverages, foods, and sweets made with fermented ingredients such as koji and sake lees. The store also offers an extensive dine-in and takeout menu, including soft drinks and ice cream made with the brand's signature sugar-free, non-alcoholic "Amasake Made Only with Koji." Additionally, "cotte," a skincare line using Hakkaisan ingredients, will offer shampoo, treatment, body soap, and face gel.

On the second floor, "Isetan Mirror," featuring a curated selection of items from Japan and abroad, will be located. In keeping with the concept of slow life, products will be available in seven zones: luxury brands, aroma, laundry, hair care, body care, skin care, and world soap bars. The store offers not only makeup for sunny days but also everyday items, allowing customers to enjoy a leisurely shopping experience. The store also introduces some first-time initiatives, such as shampoo and soap bars in the hair care zone. Additionally, the first permanent grocery store, FRESCA, will open next door. The shop allows customers to see, touch, and taste ingredients collected from around the world, offering products perfect for gifts and souvenirs. The eat-in area offers a daily changing menu, including Intelligentsia Coffee, a third-wave coffee brand popular in New York and Los Angeles, as well as cold-pressed juices and smoothies.
