
■ [Tokyo Fashion Week 2013 Spring/Summer] "Written Afterwards" Presents Stories, Not Clothes
The finale of Japan Fashion Week was the "Written Afterwards" 2013 Spring/Summer collection, unveiled at night in Miyashita Park. The creations freely straddle the boundaries between art and fashion.
■ Watanabe Sadao Photography Exhibition Held. A culmination of 40 years of photography
■ Teruya Yuken's Solo Exhibition Transforms Louis Vuitton and Chanel Paper Bags into Beautiful Tree Art
Two art exhibitions are currently underway. Jazz musician Watanabe Sadao's photography exhibition focuses on photographs taken in Africa in January of this year and photographs of children he has been taking for approximately 40 years. Up-and-coming artist Teruya Yuken is known for his works, which he carves into the shape of trees from paper bags.
■ Plantica, a collaboration with Plumpy'Nuts, will hold its first large-scale solo exhibition.
■ Photographer Mika Ninagawa will hold a solo exhibition at Shibuya Hikarie ~ 8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery
Next week, a solo exhibition by the flower art unit Plantica, led by Takashi Kimura and Tadahisa Oguri, and an exhibition by photographer Mika Ninagawa, also known as the director of the film Helter Skelter, will begin.
■ Punk Rock Queen Patti Smith Releases Her First Autobiography, Just Kids, and Poetry Collection, Signs of Innocence
Patti Smith's first autobiography and poetry collection, Signs of Innocence, will be released on Friday, December 21st. She also discusses her memories with Robert Mapplethorpe. She will also be holding an event in Japan in January 2013.
