Knitwear manufacturer Ieri Design Products will debut its women's fashion brand, GALANCE, in the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter season. The brand is directed by Mari Ide, a founding member of ESTNATION, and Machiko Asaoka, the company's former MD. The two have now launched LiFAS, where they provide consulting services for women's brands. The brand's concept is "Feel Contemporary." It proposes a lifestyle that embraces the current trends and constantly updates oneself. It targets women in their 30s who appreciate the true value of things and appreciate the quality of everyday items. The brand name is inspired by French photographer Garance Dore. While incorporating her urban style into the brand's ethos, the "R" has been deliberately written with an "L." Garance also means scarlet. The collection will feature approximately 30 styles, including coats, gowns, sweaters, dresses, leggings, and skirts. The full-scale launch will begin in Spring/Summer 2015. While primarily focused on knitwear, the brand also offers woven fabrics for complete styling. Prices range from ¥20,000 for tops, dresses, and skirts, to ¥30,000 to ¥60,000 for outerwear. The debut collection will be comprised of three lines: "Topics," "Sports," and "Basics." The main Topics line primarily features knitwear, aimed at women who want to enjoy fashion without overdoing it, but feel that basics alone are boring. This season's themes are "military" and "folklore." The collection's knitwear features sweaters with fringe accents for a sophisticated, feminine look, and outerwear with voluminous loop knitting, showcasing the unique textures of a knitwear manufacturer, utilizing the brand's knitting techniques. The collection also features a variety of knitwear styles, including soft jackets blended with mohair. The Sports line is characterized by relaxed silhouettes and firm fabrics that flatter the figure. The bold striped geometric pattern leggings are neither too thick nor too thin, making them easy to coordinate with other clothes. The 100% cotton fleece sweatshirt has a brushed, cashmere-like texture, giving it a casual yet elegant look.
The basic line is characterized by its functionality and lightness. Its color palette is based on black and white, with the brand's signature red used as an accent color. Four styles, including classic sweaters and cardigans, are made with fine wool and polyurethane for a comfortable feel. The high-neck sweater, with its modern feel, is made with a high gauge, which can usually be heavy, but this one is lightweight. Other items in the lineup include a dress with a structured silhouette and an organza hem, which exudes a relaxed feel while still being on trend.
The line is expected to be available in department stores and select shops.
