CHANEL Celebrates 90 Years of High Jewelry with a Masterpiece from the 1932 Collection

Feb 16, 2022
"Bijoux de Diamants" (Diamond Jewelry), Mademoiselle Chanel's first and only high jewelry collection, was created in 1932. This year, 2022, marks the 90th anniversary of its creation, and the brand will launch several high and fine jewelry pieces throughout the year. Prior to the release of further details, the brand has unveiled the collection's signature masterpiece, the "Allure Céleste" necklace.

90 years after the launch of its first high jewelry collection, the Chanel Jewelry Creation Studio has created a new story inspired by the modernity of "Bijoux de Diamants" (Diamond Jewelry). Collection 1932 is a journey through space and time to contemplate the rotation of the planets and the movement of the stars. Continuing the celestial theme, pared-back lines and ease of movement from the legendary original collection, Patrice Legereau, Director of the Chanel Jewelry Creation Studio, declared: "I wanted to return to the essence of Collection 1932 and harmonize the message around three symbols: the comet, the moon and the sun. Every celestial motif shines with its own light." The collection's signature "Allure Céleste" necklace evokes a journey of light, emanating from the stars in the vast sky and connecting them. Surrounded by round diamonds, it showcases a massive 55.55-carat, deeply vibrant oval-cut blue sapphire and an 8.05-carat Type IIa, D color, flawless pear-cut diamond, creating a truly dazzling display. The jewel's transformable halo can be detached to become a brooch, while the central diamond studs transform into a bracelet. The necklace can also be shortened, paying homage to Mademoiselle Chanel's 1932 desire to adorn women with constellations.

Also, a new film commemorating the 90th anniversary of "Bijoux de Diamants" (diamond jewelry), "I am the “Bijoux de Diamants” Collection," will be released at the same time. This unique film introduces the passion that Mademoiselle Chanel put into her jewelry, which remains relevant today.
