On August 20th, sales of a collaborative line between Mackintosh and HYKE began. Mackintosh is a long-established brand that continues to preserve and pass down the rubberized coat manufacturing method invented in 1823. HYKE, meanwhile, was launched in 2013 by Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Oide, former designers of green. The brand's motto is "evolving the history and heritage of clothing in a unique way through our own sensibilities," and it presents basic, wearable collections. Last year, despite being just one year old, the brand held an event at The Stage on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku. Based on the military as the inspiration source for HYKE's fall/winter collection, this collection features four outerwear styles that combine details from the M51 field jacket and M65 mod coat with original silhouettes and designs. Naturally, all items feature Mackintosh's signature rubberized cloth.
The collection will be available in three colors: black, olive drab, and camel. Prices range from 160,000 yen to 220,000 yen. It will be sold at Re-Style on the 3rd floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, as well as at the Mackintosh flagship stores in Aoyama and London, and at D Edit on the 3rd floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store. The collection line will be available for three seasons, starting from 2014-15 AW.
