Futuristic elements, such as glitter leggings, evening dresses with chains and zippers, and a series of technical fabrics, were mixed with British elements like the Union Jack and tartan. The tops featured bulging shoulders and tapered waists, creating an '80s silhouette. Boned hoods and shoulder lines evoked spacesuits. The show's theme evoked the sci-fi film "The Fifth Element," for which Gaultier designed costumes.
