Princess Grace film, with collaboration from Cartier and Dior, costume and panel exhibition to be held in Shibuya

Aug 1, 2014

To commemorate the release of the film "Grace of Monaco," a costume and panel exhibition will be held at Sogo Seibu.
Three dresses actually worn by Nicole Kidman, who played Grace Kelly in the film, will be on display. Costume designer Gigi Lepage meticulously recreated 1960s fashions: the gold glitter dress worn in the boat party scene, the ball gown studded with over 1,000 Swarovski crystals, and the navy blue coat cut worn in the Red Cross visit scene.
Panels featuring jewelry, with full cooperation from Cartier, will also be on display. From August 19 to September 8, the costumes will be on display on the first floor of Seibu Shibuya's B building, and panels and videos will be shown in the corridor connecting buildings A and B on the 5th floor. The exhibition will travel to the Omiya and Yokohama stores from September 9 to October 6. Additionally, the "Grace Kelly Photo Exhibition: Chasing the Beautiful Fashion Icon, Grace Kelly" will be held from August 19th to September 7th at the Seibu Shibuya Store, Building A, special venue on the 7th floor. This exhibition, showcasing 200 photographs of Princess Grace's life, is also a must-see. The opening film of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, "Grace of Monaco," depicts not the sweet journey from love to marriage, but the events six years after her royal wedding. Unable to adapt to royal customs and feeling lost, Grace is torn between Hitchcock's invitation to return to Hollywood and her husband, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, being forced to pay harsh taxes by France. Amidst the turbulent international politics involving Western countries, Grace prepares for the biggest stage of her life to protect her beloved family and country...

Director Olivier Dahan, who won numerous awards for "La Vie en Rose," shot the film at famous locations that Grace actually visited, such as the French Riviera and Monaco. This fashionable film, which also collaborated with Dior, will be released nationwide in October at TOHO Cinemas Yurakucho and other theaters.
