Issey Miyake's lustrous makeup, captivating with light

Aug 11, 2014

This series introduces makeup tips for this fall/winter season from the runway of the 2014-2015 Autumn/Winter collection. The first installment features ISSEY MIYAKE, showcasing this season's trend, "ON REFLECTION," with a touch of light. Following on from SS14, a minimalist finish focused on texture is the trend. For the base, foundation is mixed with Strobe Cream. The Strobe Cream's polarized pearl effect naturally camouflages imperfections. For eye makeup, a subdued eyeshadow is used to create a three-dimensional effect in the eye socket, and metallic cream eyeshadow is used as an accent. The key is to apply a generous amount from the inner corner of the eye to halfway down the lower eyelid. Instead of layering color around the mouth, a lip balm alone brings out a natural flush. Furthermore, by adding oil as a highlighter, the look creates a natural, crystal-like three-dimensional effect when exposed to light, rather than the dazzling shine of gloss.

The main products used are "Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation," "Strobe Cream," "Pro Longwear Paint Pot," "Electric Cool Eyeshadow," and "Prep Prime Essential Oil" (all from MAC).
