This fall, Sogo & Seibu will launch its independently developed sales floor, "honeycomb mode," targeting career women aged 25 to 30. To commemorate this milestone, the company held an online competition for T-shirt print designs from April 16 to June 15. The winning designs were announced.
The design theme was a regular hexagon motif that career women in their 20s and 30s would likely like. Out of 659 submissions, Saya Konno won the Grand Prize, Yosuke Inaba and Moe Nakajima won the Jury Special Award, and 17 other winners were selected.
This year's submissions were from a wide range of ages, from 14 to 81, and some designs have been used as assignments or class themes at design schools and commercial high schools.
The winning designs will be available for sale at "honeycomb mode" and the shopping site "e. Department Store" from September onward. Each design will be priced at 2,900 yen.
Applicants may be approached to participate in future product development at Sogo & Seibu. The company will also continue to make efforts to discover designers for its own independently developed products.
