This fall, Sogo & Seibu will open a new, independently developed sales floor targeting career women in their 20s and 30s, catering to the increasingly diverse lifestyles of these women. In preparation for this, the company will launch a first-of-its-kind online design competition.
The new sales floor will offer products from a variety of fields, including clothing, food, and housing. Starting on the 16th, the company will accept online submissions for T-shirt designs featuring the hexagon, a key motif representing diversity.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a 100,000 yen prize, and two judges' special prizes will each receive 30,000 yen. Up to 20 winners will be selected. The winners' designs will be commercialized as T-shirts, and they may even be involved in future Sogo & Seibu product development. The competition is open to active designers (professional division) and aspiring students (amateur division). The deadline for submissions is June 15th.
