Jonathan Saunders' trendy "dull" color makeup

Aug 13, 2014

This series introduces makeup tips for this fall/winter season from the 2014-2015 Autumn/Winter runway. Our third installment features Jonathan Saunders, incorporating one of this season's key trends, "off color." A dull brown color palette is a trend this fall/winter season. Pink and red cream eyeshadow was applied around the eyes, creating a circumferential effect. The key to maintaining a translucent look is to omit a concealer or foundation primer. To finish, orange eyeshadow was applied over the entire eyelid, blending it into the skin. Applying the product with a tapping motion using a brush, then sliding it over the eyelid, allows for a beautiful blend. A mixture of foundation and concealer was applied to the face with a soft-bristled brush. Powder foundation or highlighter was then applied to the bridge of the nose and cheekbones to capture and reflect light. Shading on the temples and cheekbones creates a three-dimensional finish.

The lips are a deep wine red. Fill in the center of the lips, and blend using a cotton swab without emphasizing the corners of the mouth or the lip line. Here, we also recommend using an eyeshadow brush on the lips.

Products used include "Pro Longwear Paint Pot," "Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15," "Studio Finish Concealer," "M.A.C. Lightful SPF25 Foundation," and "Small Eyeshadow Omega" (all MAC (M.A.C.)).
