Yohji Yamamoto's Spring/Summer 2015 men's collection, which also drew attention for casting model Rui Kurihara, was held at a showroom in Paris.
The inspiration for the collection came from Yasujiro Ozu's film "Tokyo Story." The profound story, which examines human life and death, inspired the theme of "PERDU (that which is lost)" and incorporated it into the collection.
Jacquard suits were paired with printed shirts for a motif-on-motif look. Jackets featured belts reminiscent of holsters and harnesses, and nomadic-style capes were also featured, creating a wide variety of silhouettes.
Elaborate pieces included suits with appliqué embroidery cut out from pinstripe fabric and jackets sewn with numerous buttons. A loose-fitting denim set also made an impression. In a series of sheeting fabrics with a motif that looks like it has been soiled with a brush, there was also a jacket with photos of stray cats and dogs printed on the back side, and a photo of Yohji Yamamoto himself with the words "Disposable OK".
While making use of a variety of materials and showing a variety of styles, the chic code that is characteristic of Yohji Yamamoto was never lost throughout the show, and the collection ended with a humorous and playful touch.
