Perfume will be wearing mame at this year's Kohaku Uta Gassen. Daito Manabe: "Perfume is the best."

Dec 31, 2014

Perfume appeared on the 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen broadcast on December 31st wearing outfits from designer Mae Kurokawa's "mame." The outfits, similar to those worn in the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection, were green, black, and white dresses embroidered with lily of the valley. The see-through lace and cuts added a sensual touch. They were worn outside of singing scenes, such as the opening and the talk segment with hosts Arashi and Yuriko Yoshitaka. Perfume performed "Cling Cling." Following last year's performance, Daito Manabe of Rhizomatiks created a performance featuring a multicopter drone carrying a lantern, which the three members of Perfume caught at the end. All elements were controlled via Wi-Fi. After the performance, Manabe revealed on his official Instagram that the final catch was a suggestion from the three members of Perfume. Manabe posted, "Kohaku 2014 has been completed successfully!! Thank you for your hard work every day and night. Perfume is the best."

Mikiko, who was in charge of the choreography, also posted on Twitter just before the performance that she was "so nervous I'm getting excited," and immediately after it finished she tweeted that she was "sobbing."
