Metsa, a new facility offering a variety of experiences in a Nordic-style forest and lake, has opened in the area centered around Lake Miyazawa in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. Comprised of two zones, Metsa Village, offering a Nordic lifestyle experience, will open in the fall of 2018, while Moomin Valley Park, themed around the Moomin stories, will open in the spring of 2019.
The facility was designed to be a place where visitors can discover the true essence of spiritual richness through experiences in a Nordic-style forest and lake and bring that knowledge back into their daily lives. It offers six experiential values that lead to the discovery of spiritual richness: "Challenge," "Creation," "Sharing," "Openness," "Exploration," and "Imagination."
The facility is designed based on three principles: "Experiences with unique answers," based on the idea that answers are found through individual thought; "Experiences that stimulate the five senses," such as the pleasant breeze on the lakeside or the strength of roots underfoot; and "Experiences where accumulation has meaning," which capture the joy and excitement of achieving great results through small, incremental steps.
The facility is divided into two zones. Metsä Village, where you can experience the Nordic lifestyle, will offer facilities and activities that will allow you to feel close to nature. There will also be a market where you can purchase fresh local vegetables and crafts, accommodation facilities with saunas, and glamping facilities. Meanwhile, Moomin Valley Park will feature the Moomin House where the Moomin family lives, attractions where you can relive the Moomin stories, and the lighthouse and bathing hut that appear in the stories. There are also plans to have a large gift shop selling original products and a restaurant on site.
