Takashi Homma's new photo book is set on a remote island in Finland where the original author of "Moomin" spent his time.

Jul 18, 2016

A talk session celebrating the publication of photographer Takashi Homma's collection, "A Song for Windows," will be held at the Aoyama Book Center main branch on July 24th.

"A Song for Windows" is a photo book set on the remote island of Klovhar, Finland, where Tove Jansson, the internationally renowned author of the children's book "Moomin," spent summers for nearly a quarter of a century with her partner, illustrator Tuulikki Pietilä. Inspired by the 1998 documentary "Haru, yksinaisten saari," the book features a number of works created during Takashi Homma's stay there. The book is limited to 500 copies, with only 100 copies distributed in Japan.

In the talk session celebrating the publication, Takashi Homma will discuss his life on the remote island and the documentaries that inspired him, using footage shot on location. Hamanaka Atsushi, president of twelvebooks, the Japanese distributor of LIBRARYMAN, the Swedish publisher that published the book, is also scheduled to participate as a guest.
