EACH×OTHER, a fusion of art and fashion at Restear. A limited-time shop opens.

Dec 2, 2013

EACH×OTHER will open its first Japanese pop-up shop, "ART LANGUAGE," at the select shop RESTIR Midtown in Roppongi, Tokyo, from December 5th. It will run until the 19th.

Alongside the 13AW collection, which is made up of collaborations with seven artists, the shop will focus on two contemporary artists: Canadian Blair Chivers and UK-based Robert Montgomery.

A limited edition of 100 pieces of Chivers' mirror art, "LUX mirror paintings" (52,500 yen), will be on sale, and Montgomery's installation, "THE CITY IS WILDER THAN YOU THINK," will be on display. The two artists use "words" as a motif in their creative work, and the shop's title is a reference to this.

The brand, which launched in AW2012, was founded by fashion designer Ilan Delouis and art director Jenny Mannerheim. Inspired by Montgomery's poem "The City Is Wilder," the brand creates clothing through a collaborative approach between art, designers, and craftsmen. The brand name comes from the poem's epilogue, "The Fire of Each Other."

Each season, the brand invites several different artists as guest designers to present a collection centered around the themes of "Art Meets Fashion," "Common Identity," "Creative Community," "Rough Luxury," and "Design Concepts."

In Japan, the brand began full-scale operations in 2013-14 Autumn/Winter, and in October it held a pop-up event called "ART MEETS FASHION" at Shinjuku Isetan.
