Isetan Shinjuku has collaborated for the first time with photography magazine IMA to hold an exhibition and sale called "Living with Art Photography," a collaboration between Japan's leading contemporary art gallery and interior design brand, in the 7th floor event hall from November 20th until the 25th.
The venue is a collaboration between Arflex x WAKO WORKS OF ART, Maruni Wood Industry x Tomio Koyama Gallery, Flex Form x Taka Ishii Gallery, Cassina x TARO NASU, Lloyd's Antique x amanasalto, and Nagasaka Jo x IMA, recreating coordinated settings for four scenes: living room, dining room, bedroom, and study. Participating artists include Ryan McGinley, Daido Moriyama, Mika Ninagawa, Wolfgang Tillmans, James Welling, Maiko Haruki, Elliott Erwitt, Yohei Yoshiraku, Kosuke, and Wataru Yamamoto. Prices range from ¥500,000 to ¥700,000, and the exhibition features not only furniture but also a wide variety of interior goods, including stuffed animals by Donna Wilson. "Every year, we hear more and more people saying they don't know how to combine art with interior design. Galleries are also perceived as intimidating and difficult to enter. So, we collaborated with IMA to organize this exhibition at a time when interest in art is on the rise. We've recreated living and dining rooms in the venue, and hope that by actually coordinating the artworks, it will provide some ideas for incorporating art into your everyday life," explains the buyer in charge.
