Jun will open Cafe de Rope La Mer, a beloved cafe known as the "face of Harajuku" in the 1970s, and its new brand, LE JUN, in the new commercial facility, AEON Mall Makuhari New City, opening in Makuhari, Chiba Prefecture, on December 20th.
Established in 1972, Cafe de Rope La Mer drew attention for its Parisian-inspired style, including terrace seating, which was rare in Japan at the time, and became a popular gathering place for celebrities, models, designers, and other creative people. Since 2009, it has been recreated as a beach house on Isshiki Beach in Hayama for a limited summer season, but it will now be revived as a permanent, authentic bistro-style cafe.
The cafe is produced by Transit General Office. The restaurant's interior is designed to resemble a bistro bustling with tourists and families, reminiscent of a southern French resort town's relaxed atmosphere. The food is produced by Takemasa Kinoshita, a leading French bistro expert who also produced the "LADIES & GENTLEMEN" Isetan Shinjuku store. The restaurant offers a modern take on the popular panini from the restaurant, including the "Avocado and Roast Beef Panini" (860 yen), the "La Mer Nicoise Salad with Colorful Vegetables" (830 yen), and the "La Mer Lemonade Pop" (700 yen). To celebrate the restaurant's opening, a perfect reproduction of the French-style café au lait, in which a waiter pours equal parts coffee and hot milk at your table, will be available for a limited time from December 20th to 31st.ンです。 English: The new brand "Le Jun" offers a selection of European-style items at reasonable prices. Based on simple designs, it offers items for men, women, children, and miscellaneous goods to suit five different scenes: "USUAL, WORK, TRIP, CARE, FAMILY." As a special opening gift from December 20th, the shop will be offering a drink ticket for Café de Rope la Mer to the first 300 customers who spend over 5,000 yen (tax included), and a document bag to the first 300 customers who spend over 8,000 yen. In addition, to commemorate the revival of Café de Rope la Mer, a talk event will be held at Shimokitazawa B&B from 7pm on December 14th. Book director Masataka Haba will act as the moderator, and stylist Yasuko Takahashi, known affectionately as "Omotesando's Yakko-san," will appear as the main guest. They will unravel the stories behind the cafe.
