Isamu Katayama Backlash, shop open in Paris until January

Dec 14, 2013

ISAMU KATAYAMA BACKLASH, a leather brand created by Isamu Katayama, opened a shop in Paris, France on November 22nd. The shop is located at KOGAN GALLERY (96 B Rue Beaubourg, 75003 Paris 03, France), a space used for exhibiting artists' works and fashion brands' collections. The shop will be open until January 12th of next year, followed by the brand's AW14-15 exhibition. Following on from the Daikanyama flagship store, the interior was designed by design firm SEI. The walls feature monochrome tree prints reminiscent of a winter forest, commissioned from a German wallpaper printing company. The gallery's large façade is intentionally covered in thin black film to obscure the interior and draw the attention of passersby. "It's a great opportunity to let Parisians know about our brand. We're located on the border of the Marais, so there's a lot of foot traffic. We have a wide range of customers, including fashion industry professionals, couples passing by, and tourists. Compared to Tokyo, there are more female customers," said a promotional representative for the brand.
