Burberry has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022 Pre-Collection, designed by Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci.

"I wanted to explore a different experience when presenting my collections, so I decided to entrust each upcoming pre-collection to a new creative person each season. These are extraordinary people who inspire me with their unique creativity in their personal lives as well. Creativity is freedom, empathy and communication with others. It is your voice, your identity, the part of you that you want to share with others. I was excited to engage in creative conversation with them and see how they would interpret and realise my identity.

I am now delighted to announce Lea T as my first partner for the Autumn/Winter 2022 Pre-Collection, the first instalment of this new creative series. Lea T is a beloved member of my family, with a deep understanding of animals and nature, as well as a strong femininity balanced with a relaxed, gentle and romantic softness."

Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer, Burberry

The collection celebrates style and identity, togetherness and freedom, nature and the outdoors.

Burberry's iconic house codes are given a modern twist, blending eclectic British style with a sense of exploration and the drive to go further. The collection revolves around adventure and discovery, blurring the boundaries between creativity and self-expression, on a physical and personal level.

The Autumn/Winter 2022 Pre-Collection marks the start of a new creative series featuring Burberry friends and family. For upcoming pre-collections, we will partner with Riccardo Tisci to feature inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds. Each will interpret the brand identity that Riccardo Tisci has built at Burberry, styling the collection, and incorporating their own creative identities into their own expressions. This time, we have chosen Lea T, a long-time collaborator of Riccardo Tisci and a member of the Burberry family. She has appeared in Burberry campaigns and modeled in the Spring/Summer 2021 runway show.

The collections are deeply inspired by the outdoors. Signature outerwear is refreshed with new oversized silhouettes and reimagined details, inspired by a youthful and fresh take on traditional utility and exploration styles. This influence can be seen in silk twill short-sleeve shirts, wool skirts, and T-shirts, featuring new prints such as the British Isles, a mirrored globe, and a Monogram map. Continuing from last season, the freedom of the British craft movement is reflected in flowing pieces like dresses, jackets, overshirts, and jumpers in geometric prints.

"Creativity is closely linked to our personal interests, our environment and our passions. It all leads to broadening our horizons and the pursuit of creative self-expression. It is one of life's most important and challenging challenges, because it requires courage and strength to understand who we are.

I've worked with Ricardo for many years, but this new perspective has been a great experience, as it focuses on the people around the creators of the clothes. Through this initiative, Ricardo himself has thrown out his stereotypes and shared a new interpretation of the people around him, and he has really respected our vision.

Today, Burberry is a window into freedom and space to create something extraordinary. Looking back at the brand's history, there are interesting parallels to modern life, but also a desire for people to escape into the British wilderness. I have a deep respect for both British nature and my own version of nature. Even if my version of nature is outside the norms we live in today, I believe it's important to explore it in life, as long as I value it.

WOMEN
Trench coats are reimagined with bibs, patchwork in beige and neutrals, and dark truffle brown lambskin. Car coats are reinterpreted in soft fawn with cape details and tropical gabardine in deep fern green. A tailored wool coat is paired with a botanical sketch-print T-shirt and wide-leg trousers with knee-high slits. Other pieces include a tactile faux fur outer layer crafted from a camel mohair blend and a coat layered with leather lapels. Technical jackets incorporate fashion and functionality, from nylon and rib knit hybrids to a trench-coat-inspired cropped parka with zip panels. Down-filled styles feature geometric stitching, while the barn jacket is diamond quilted. The "travel" theme is complemented by silk shirts and scarves with seasonal map prints. It was paired with draped skirts and 1970s-style corduroy wide-leg trousers. A new chevron check pattern is featured in jacquard on cashmere capes, chunky knit cardigans and tailored wool jackets. Drawstring details on bodysuits and flared trousers, structured whipstitch straps on sleeveless dresses and cut-out details are featured throughout the collection.

For evening wear, strapless long dresses in black and deep mulberry silk georgette were offered, styled with reconstructed flight jackets in shearling collars. A color-blocked viscose midi dress and an asymmetrical draped mohair wool dress were paired with split-hemmed trousers.

MEN
A bold approach to classic outerwear sees a camel tailored coat appliquéd with a botanical sketch print, paired with a wool and cashmere hooded jacket and wide-leg trousers. A panelled car coat is crafted from the iconic cotton gabardine, blending camel hair and wool. Other pieces include a black leather bomber jacket accented with a Thomas Burberry Monogram cut-out, and a distressed leather pea coat with exaggerated lapels.

A dark olive poncho is worn over a reconstructed car coat with a drawstring waist, exploring new styles. Other new looks include outdoor-influenced colour-block padded styles, a geometric-print overshirt, and a dark truffle brown parka with a detachable hood. The season's first map print appears on cotton sweaters, organza T-shirts, and monogrammed silk shirts, all paired with corduroy cargo pants.

A cashmere-wool hybrid cardigan with detachable nylon twill panels is rebelliously styled layered over an English-fit tuxedo or a tailored wool coat. Elevated knitwear continues with a crystal-embroidered cable knit sweater and a dark truffle brown wool sweater with cut-out details.

SHOES AND ACCESSORIES
For women, the collection includes leather over-the-knee sock boots, chunky-heeled lace boots with contrasting topstitching, leather and velvet sandals, and leather loafers accented with shiny studs and logo graphics. Other pieces include stiletto heel sandals in leather and incorporating trench coat belt details, as well as a sneaker with iconic overshoe details, now available in a new optic white colorway in quilted lambskin. Slides feature netting details and a reimagined check sole, crafted from bright orange and black rubber.

BAG
The classic crossbody Elizabeth Bag makes its debut. It features an embossed logo graphic on the front fastening and is available in black, warm tan, and midnight navy leather.

The Rhombi Bag, which debuted in the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, is reinterpreted in black quilted check lambskin and a cage-like design in dark birch brown leather and cotton blend. The Lola family continues to offer a wide variety of styles, from classic shapes with map-print silk bodies and tortoiseshell-finish chain straps to bucket bags in warm tan and needle-punched canvas. The signature Olympia bag is newly introduced in a cool beige calfskin embossed design. A British country map print and monogram motif are featured on the circular Louise Bag. Other items include a rabbit-shaped dark brown faux fur bag, a canvas and leather travel bag with a bold check pattern, and a black lambskin tote bag with a quilted monogram. KEY COLORS: A neutral palette of camel, soft fawn, and deep taupe complements autumnal tones like dark truffle, deep beach, and dark birch brown. Bright orange, deep fern green, pale blue, and red add accents.

KEY PATTERNS AND PRINTS
Monogram map prints, British nations and globe motifs feature prominently as seasonal prints. Botanical sketches and label prints are also new additions. The house check is reinterpreted in a new chevron pattern and a bold dark birch brown pattern. Other key patterns include patchwork in beige and neutral tones and geometric color blocks.
