Salvatore Ferragamo has been chosen to design the costumes for Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard's new film, "Rush."
"Rush" is based on a true story set in the golden age of Formula One in 1976. It tells the story of the rivalry between Niki Lauda, a meticulous and brilliant Austrian played by Daniel Bruhl, and James Hunt, a wayward British playboy played by Chris Hemsworth.
The brand has also designed the costumes for Niki Lauda and his wife, Marlène, played by Alexandra Maria Lara. Creative director Massimiliano Giornetti commented, "I wanted Niki Lauda's costumes to reflect his character, infusing them with the fashion sense of the 1970s." He said he chose special fabrics and sharp silhouettes, such as a glen plaid jacket and a short suede jacket trimmed with denim. "Rush" will be released nationwide from February 7, 2014 at TOHO Cinemas Nichigeki and other theaters.
