Cool Japan Area at AEON Mall Makuhari New City. Gundam, Otomate, and trains all here.

Dec 20, 2013

A new "Cool Japan"-themed concept zone, "JAPAN POP JUNGLE," has opened on the third floor of the Grand Mall at AEON MALL Makuhari New City, which opened on December 20th. Nine shops showcasing Japan's most iconic pop culture are gathering here. The company is considering expanding the zones overseas. The first Gundam Cafe in Chiba Prefecture features the Zeon forces featured in the series, with a life-size Zaku head displayed at the entrance. Exclusive menus inspired by each character are available. Next door, Namco's unique new business, "Chara Pop Store," has opened, combining merchandise, entertainment, and a cafe themed around anime and games. The theme until February 28th is Otomate, a romance game brand aimed at women. Limited-edition original merchandise from popular games like "Hakuoki" and "AMNESIA" will be available, along with photo spots.

Bushiroad Store, the first official shop of Bushiroad, a company that brings trading cards and video games to the world, not only sells merchandise but also has a battle space. Also, Railway Cafe STEAM LOCOMOTIVE, where you can enjoy a meal while looking at a railway diorama, offers a lineup of original juices and food inspired by famous trains. The diorama is divided into three zones, so the view changes depending on where you sit.

Other stores include COSPA Asia, a new business model from COSPA, a specialty store for character goods and apparel; Sanrio Vivitix, a brand based on the concept of "cute for adults" from Sanrio; and Gashapon World Premium, a corner that sells and provides the latest information on Bandai's Gashapon products.
