A "Lady Gaga-themed Hello Kitty" charity auction, which began on December 17th on Yahoo! Auctions, was sold on the 23rd. The winning bid was ¥2,259,522, receiving 314 bids.
This Hello Kitty is one of only two in the world, designed by third-generation Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi. It features the hairstyle, rhinestone-studded seashell suit, and platform boots seen in recent Lady Gaga videos and photos, and is signed by Gaga herself. The other one is her own. It will be packaged in an acrylic case and shipped.
The winning bid will be donated in full to the TOMODACHI Stella Adler Performing Arts Fellowship, which provides an opportunity for young people to participate in a one-year program in the United States to study professional education in creative fields. This is part of the "Great East Japan Earthquake Charity Auction."
In April 2012, the teacup used by Gaga was put up for auction for charity, and after 1,344 bids, it sold for 6,011,000 yen.
