
Actor Shun Oguri was born on December 26, 1982, in Tokyo.
He began his acting career as an extra after auditioning in the sixth grade of elementary school. His first regular role in a TV drama was in the 1998 drama "GTO." His 2003 appearance in the stage production "Hamlet" directed by Yukio Ninagawa led to him becoming a regular in Ninagawa's productions.
He made his breakthrough in October 2005 with his role as Hanazawa Rui in the TV drama "Boys Over Flowers." The series was a huge hit, garnering a sequel and a film adaptation. He won the Best Actor Award at the 17th Japan Movie Critics Awards for his role in the 2007 film "Crows Zero," establishing his reputation as a talented actor. In 2008, he starred in his first TV drama, "Bombi Men." These achievements have earned him numerous awards, including the Elan d'or Award.
In his personal life, he married Yu Yamada in March 2012 after a four-year relationship. He was chosen to play the live-action version of Lupin III in the film "Lupin the Third," scheduled for release in 2014, and prepared for the role through 10 months of action training and a weight loss of 8 kg.
