OMEGA's first news of 2022 is the new Speedmaster Calibre 321 Canopus Gold™, a timepiece characterized by vintage-inspired details and a beautiful design in 18K Canopus Gold™.

When this legendary collection was first introduced in 1957, it forever changed the face of chronograph watchmaking. Designed for professional racing drivers, it offered perfect legibility and ease of use, and was the first watch in the world to feature a tachymeter scale on the bezel rather than on the dial. This feature was not only ideal for measuring average speed on the race track, but also contributed to the watch's robust, precise, and waterproof design.


Inspired by the original Speedmaster, known as CK2915-1, this timepiece commemorates the collection's 65th anniversary. The 38.6mm case is crafted from the unique 18K Canopus Gold™, OMEGA's exclusive white gold alloy known for its brilliance, whiteness and durability. Watch enthusiasts will also recognize the Naiad logo on this model's crown, which denotes water resistance and was featured on some of the original CK2915 models.


The dial is crafted from black onyx and features the vintage OMEGA logo and oval "O" iconic of the original CK2915 model. Other features include 18K white gold hands and indexes with Canopus Gold™ PVD coating, the classic Speedmaster trio of small seconds, 30-minute counter and 12-hour counter subdials, and a central chronograph function. And of course, the famous tachymeter scale. The tachymeter scale on the bezel is crafted from black "Grand Feu" enamel, and a closer look reveals two of the original Speedmaster's most beloved details among collectors: the Dot over 90 (DON) and the Dot diagonal to 70.


But perhaps most notable among these features is the famous movement inside the watch: Caliber 321. This is the original movement that powered the Speedmaster in 1957. It was also the movement that powered the Apollo watches, accompanying all six of the historic moon landings. Since 2019, OMEGA has resumed production of the Calibre 321, meticulously recreating its original specifications. The Calibre 321 is an important element of this model, further reinforcing the authenticity of the Speedmaster's history and heritage.


Turn the watch over to reveal the OMEGA Seahorse engraved on the inside of the sapphire crystal. The Seahorse has been a brand icon on the Speedmaster since 1957, and in keeping with the 65th anniversary, its eyes are set with sparkling blue sapphires, a precious gemstone. This Speedmaster Calibre 321 Canopus Gold™ is presented on an 18K Canopus Gold™ bracelet with a Comfort Release system for easy size adjustment. To celebrate the Speedmaster's 65th anniversary, the watch is presented in a special wooden box with a rosewood-like pattern, the shape and design of which are inspired by the original Speedmaster box that customers would have received in 1957.
