Sculptor Kenichi Asano's exhibition "Tough Man" arrives at the hpgrp Gallery. Hisashi Tenmyouya is the focus.

Dec 15, 2013

HPGRP Gallery will be hosting "Kenichi Asano - The Strong One," a solo exhibition by sculptor Kenichi Asano, from January 17, 2014, through February 16.

Asano is one of the artists that contemporary artist Hisashi Tenmyouya is currently paying the most attention to. Asano's work has explored themes such as transformation, possession, and puppetry, as he transforms into a new incarnation, distinct from his previous self, and the power he gains through these mediums. This time, he will be showcasing "The Strong One," a work that uses a "mask" as a medium to access another world. Five other new works will also be on display.

Kenichi Asano was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1981. After graduating from the Sculpture Department of the Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts, he was selected for the NHK Digital Stadium Yanobe Kenji Best Selection and the 13th Taro Okamoto Contemporary Art Award in 2010. In addition to his creative endeavors, he also holds exhibitions around the country.
