Bruno Frisoni 1/6 - The shoe designer who revived Roger Vivier [INTERVIEW]

Dec 25, 2013

To celebrate the opening of a boutique for the iconic French shoe brand, Roger Vivier, on the second floor of Matsuya Ginza, creative director Bruno Frisoni visited Japan. Now in his 10th year at Roger Vivier, we spoke with him about the brand's appeal and Monsieur Roger Vivier (hereafter referred to as Monsieur). From the glamorous 1950s to the 1970s, during the era of haute couture, Monsieur's shoes captivated elegant women and took the world by storm. However, by the late 1980s, they were relegated to museums as a legacy. In 2001, they were brought back into the spotlight when Diego Della Valle, Chairman and CEO of the Tod's Group, acquired Roger Vivier in an attempt to revive the brand. In 2003, Frisoni was appointed creative director, and in 2004 the flagship store opened at 29 Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.
