Illustrator Kiyoshi Kuroda holds solo exhibition at Daikanyama TSUTAYA Bookstore. New work "Rain" depicts "water" with monochrome lines.

Jan 12, 2016

Illustrator Kuroda Kiyoshi's solo exhibition "Rain" will be held from January 16th to 31st at the gallery on the first floor of Daikanyama T-Site Building No. 2.

Kiyoshi Kuroda is an illustrator from Tokyo. As an art director, he also creates artwork for advertisements and magazines. In July 2015, he held the exhibition "Water" at POST in Ebisu, Tokyo, showcasing a number of works related to "water," including water poured into a glass, a pot with water poured over it, and a polar bear peeking out of the water.

This exhibition will feature new works incorporating motifs he has rarely depicted before, such as people, hair, and printed matter. His line drawings express the "wateriness" and "moisture" that he associates with invisible elements such as humidity and humidity, as well as the atmosphere and emotions that each motif embodies.

On the occasion of the solo exhibition, Kuroda commented, "For this exhibition, I used line drawings to depict the effect that water has on people's emotions and psychological states. On a rainy day, when I'm reading a book indoors listening to the sound of the rain, I often find myself immersed more deeply in the world of the work than usual, or I'm suddenly reminded of memories and smells from long ago. I created this work while imagining the feeling of the world of the book and the real world blending together."
